Yesterday Facebook launched Facebook Studio, an interesting community site that seeks to serve the mutual needs of Facebook, media agencies, and small business marketers like you and me.
The Facebook Gallery and Spotlight
The Gallery and Spotlight on Facebook Studio gives ad agencies an opportunity to showcase their work and submit for awards that may serve to generate new business for them.
You can use these practical examples from the pros as a source for ideas that you can adapt to your Facebook marketing.
Of course, if you are in the market for an agency to work with, this is a good place to make comparisons.
The Learning Lab and What’s New
If you are a small business that has never advertised on Facebook, the Learning Lab is a great place to get the lay of the land because everything you need is right here – including tutorial videos, step-by-step lists, FAQ’s, and links to additional resources.
The Learning Lab offers resources in the following areas.
- Facebook Marketing
- Facebook Pages
- Facebook Ads
- Sponsored Stories
- Places and Deals
- The Facebook Platform
- Facebook Research
Facebook Advertising and Groupon
It should not surprise you that Facebook’s interest in bringing marketers of all shapes and sizes together is to encourage more advertising on Facebook. But don’t let that run you off, because there are opportunities here that are worth your consideration.
For example, I was on Groupon’s list for a while to learn more about how their service works. What I discovered was that most of the “local” deals are in the city of Chicago. I’m out in the suburbs – easily an hour away. A much more targeted version of Groupon is Facebook Deals.
As you know, Facebook’s intrinsic value lies in social graphs – those digital maps that are capable of connecting your business with more customers that you can best serve – close by and the right demographic.
The following video from the Learning Lab gives you a visual, with my previously published article providing a more detailed explanation of how social graphs work.
It gets even better – instead of giving away discounts unnecessarily, Deals allows you to create deals not just for new customers, but also a targeted Loyalty Deal. Plus, for those of us that are not local businesses, we can create a Charity Deal to encourage more business – a win-win-win for us, our new customers, and a deserving non-profit organization.
There’s Still More
You really need to take some time and explore Facebook Studio because there is a lot to discover, both now and on an ongoing basis. That’s the idea behind this – to build a community where all business markers can learn to better design their business around social.
You may not be a sophisticated advertising agency, but you are nevertheless a media company because your customers expect you to have an active presence on the social networks.
As always, take your time, learn at your own pace, and trust your gut to use what’s right for you and your business.
Facebook Studio is a resource that will help you to do this on the most active website in the world – one where your future customers are hanging out.
