Why I Like Postling

Postling is a relatively new service that makes it easy to manage all of your social media within a single interface.  I mentioned Postling in an earlier post on social media dashboards, but did not really get into much detail.

There are a number of services that will allow you to accomplish this.  However, in addition to providing a few features that others don't, the folks behind Postling not only listen to their users, but they also take action.

Monitor Your Facebook Page and YouTube Channel

The primary reason I signed up for Postling was to receive notifications when comments are made on my Facebook page. This is invaluable for entrepreneurs and small business owners that have responsibilities beyond social media – like running their businessees.

Today Postling added the capability to also monitor comments on your YouTube channel. When I activated this feature today, I proceeded to then check emails and immediately suspected I pushed a wrong button – as I was greeted by dozens of favorable comments to my YouTube videos that I was missing!

So, if you read no further, this alone is reason enough to use Postling to monitor your brand.

Post from Postling

As the name implies, you can bring all (or most) of your social media channels and feeds into Postling to batch them together to maximize your efficiency for engagement with your friends and followers.

While I have other systems (and habits) in place, I have used Postling from time to time to post to my social media channels and it works like a charm. Yet, for some reason I have difficulty doing the same from my iPhone.

Nevertheless, I'm not worried, as I have learned from their forums that if I bring this to their attention, they will give it full consideration.

The Folks at Postling Seem to Care

When you are fully immersed in social media as I am, you learn about dozens of new technology tools every single week. So, that's what I do – I sift through it all to find what works now, and hopefully discern what will continue to get better.  I believe Postling is one that will.

Today I scrolled through the Postling forums and discovered that they are really listening to their users. The recent YouTube integration is one example that was discussed back in October.  Another one that is coming is a revised pricing schedule.

I'm using the free version of Postling, which accomplishes my present needs. However, if you are a local business, you can upgrade to the premium version and have access to tracking Yelp comments, and a whole lot more.

Is that worth $24.99/month?  It may to some companies. Yet, it appears (from comments in the forum) that Postling plans to adjust the premium structure to give users more choices for upgrading to a level that fits their needs and budgets.

I've experimented with several other tools that allow for monitoring multiple brands and services, as well as tapping into the stats that come from monitoring that activity.  This is where you need to be if you plan to monetize your social media efforts moving forward.

Give Postling a closer look.  You will be glad you did.

Thanks for this update on Postling, Jeff. I signed up for their service after you mentioned them the last time. I like receiving the emails compiling all of my social media activity – I’ve usually already caught most of it, but it’s a good backup.

    Keep up your great work!

Linda – Exactly – the challenge is making sure you don’t miss any of the good stuff!

And evidently, I need to do a better job of staying of engaging on YouTube.

Maybe so! Though when I added YouTube to my Postling account, I got some notification emails right away that were actually old comments I had already replied to. They were just getting up to speed.

  6. Jeff Korhan says:

Same here – some I had replied to but many others I hadn’t. Either way, it’s nice to know I’m connected.

I believe we all need to do more with YouTube. If my college age kids are any indication of trends, they sure get a lot of their “news” there.

It’s definitely on my list for 2011!
