Be Memorable.
How do you do that?
- Take Inventory
- Take Risks
- Take Action
Taking Inventory
Take inventory of what you do well. Mine the skills that have always worked for you. Then show us how you do it.
Most of us underestimate what we do well. I suggest you overestimate yourself. Why? What you do well comes naturally to you. For the rest of us, it may be a huge challenge.
I really appreciate the effective use of humor as a communication skill. Who can show me how? Do you often see what others tend to miss? If so, use those observation skills to help the rest of us learn how to see as you do. You have talent. Take inventory of it – and overestimate its value. Then you will understand its true value for others.
Taking Risks
Your blog is an opportunity to take your community where they want to go. It is a presentation – a performance. You need to think in those terms. If people show up, you have to be ready to give them your best. Sometimes this means taking a leap and hoping the net will appear.
Taking Action
When you do this, you respect the time and attention of your audience. And you will build your blogging skills in the process. Remember that we showed up for a performance. Give it to us. I recently commented on the skills of George Carlin in a post about why I blog. Learn from the masters.
You can't help anyone by sitting back and thinking about it. You have to measure your skills, focus them for your audience, and then take action.
Help us remember.
