Social Media is the New Street Smart

If you have been in business for a while, you probably have more skills for successfully using social media than the crowd that is gaga over the technology.

You have learned through pragmatic business experience how to get results in your business.

You know that these are human beings you are communicating with, and it takes an emotional connection with one to get an order signed that will result in a profit for your business.

What is Street Smart?

Street smart is knowing how to get your mission accomplished, despite the traditional rules. It means going around the corner, through the back door, wherever you have to go to circumvent the gatekeepers that stand in your way.

Street smart people have a reputation for breaking the rules.  That's not accurate anymore.  Street smart is simply doing what is necessary to achieve a result. Street smart is being non-traditional.  And for the time being, social media is still a non-traditional means for achieving results.  It's getting things done with people that you can call your friends.

Relationships with friends has always been the street smart way for making a deal happen.  When you follow the herd, you get trampled.  The cure for the herd mentality is innovation.  That's the user-friendly term for street smart in this age of technology.

Street smart isn't a short-cut; it's just smart.
