You will only be able to greet a New Year like this one – well, once in a Blue Moon.
Like me, you may never have actually understood what a Blue Moon is – other than a span of time that your mother promised you would pass until the nearly impossible would occur!
Well, guess what? You will be able to see that Blue Moon tonight. And take a good look because you won't see it again on New Year's Eve until the year 2028.
There is a great deal of folklore about the Blue Moon. Though, the simple definition is the Blue Moon is the second full moon in a single calendar month.
I'll leave it to the scientists to have fun with what makes all of this possible every few years in general, and every few decades on New Year's Eve. I'm more interested in what this metaphor represents.
The mere existence of a Blue Moon, something that truly was full of mystery to me as a kid, represents the unexpected – a New Year of new opportunities.
And after the challenging times the residents of this planet have recently experienced, I cannot think of a better time to have a reason to take an especially fresh look ahead.
Happy New Year!

I was surprised at how little information there was on this event. I enjoyed looking at the moon though, just as I enjoy your blog.
Happy New Year!
April – If not for blogs, we would miss out on events like this.
It was definitely a blue moon here in Chicago against all of the snow!
I’m pleased you are enjoying my work – which I suppose it is, and a bit more.
Happy New New Year to you as well.
